Fresh ideas, deeper research part 2
The last post we talk about Nightmares and now we shall move on to the second idea, shall we?
2) Malaysian obesity problems
Malaysia was known as the most popular country for delicious delicate however, all these delicious food is fat and carb-heavy. Unfortunately, Malaysia has been coined as the leading country in Southeast Asia with the highest obesity population at 44.2%, and the percentage keeps increasing with time (New star time, 2017 & kaodim, 2016). Malaysia rated as the fattest country in Southeast Asia with the number increasing dramatically. As this problem grown Malaysia are reporting a numberless amount of disease for example diabetes, heart attack and etc (Malaysian Medical Association, 2016).
What is the issues/ concept or problem?
Malaysian are unhealthy due to their lifestyle and food consuming, these causes disease which may endanger their life. The prevalence of both overweight and obesity are lowest among young adults but more than doubles to a peak in middle age (Malaysian Medical Association, 2016). During an interview Malaysian answers they know they are overweighting and unhealthy, with the try of consuming more fruits and vegetables but the problems are they cannot control their desire for food. Most importantly they know they didn’t exercise enough (aljazeera, 2016).
Another reason is: Dr Mohd Ismail said some parents thought to have "chubby children" was a reflection that they were well-fed and cared for but they did not realise that the child was likely to be overweight during puberty and this would continue throughout their lifetime (asiaone, n.d.).
Why Malaysian are overweighting?
Why Malaysian are overweighting?
1) Never exercise
2) Malaysia food is too sweet and too oily
3) We rely on our car too much
4) Spending too much time on sitting in front of the computer and television

What is the key unique idea?
What is the key unique idea?
Educational for information/ motivational???
Why do you want to achieve?
Why do you want to achieve?
To educated Malaysian about overweighting problems/ motivation?/ information?
How do we fix it? “If we educate the 10-year-olds and 11-year-olds now, they will become adults later on and 20 years later they will be healthier adults. Less obese, less overweight and healthier Malaysians.” – E-Siong Tee, President of the Malaysia Nutrition Society, Al-Jazeera
How do we help Malaysian?
What I found out:
1) Interventions that target food intake are promising at the individual and population level
2) Physical exercise plays an important role in preventing and reducing obesity. Authorities should work to increase access for the public to facilities and public spaces where such activities can be carried out
3) Simpler food labelling can have a significant impact by helping consumers make informed choices
4) The private sector and food industry can also play a constructive role in designing new food products with lower sugar and fat content
5) Child-focused obesity measures are most important, as childhood obesity is hard to reverse and can lead to chronic illnesses later in life. Options include restricting the availability of higher fat or high-sugar foods in schools. Besides this, physical education must become an essential and central part of school curricula (Penanginstitute, 2017)
-Most importantly from the research above what Malaysian needs is motivation and the correct information to help them improve their diet.
-Teach them to cook with difference ingredient (like nasi lemak can use other ingredients instead of coconut milk)
Feedbacks after the consultation (the second meeting):
1) I am finding too many target audients as I am lost on which to focus, due to this is a huge topic. I need to set a target audience from all the research I did, so which hit me the most among all types of people. In the research a word "childhood obesity" hit me the most to hear about, it means children grow up with weight increasing to an overweight adult.
2) So questions continue if childhood obesity is your target what is the causes of it? First parents feed the wrong amount of diet a kid should consume a day, second food from school canteen is too oily. So I can focus on either educating the parents or the school canteen. Which I picked parents.....
3) So do the parents think they don't know about this situation that their children are unhealthy? Or parents know it and try to solve it but it didn't work out? There are many types of parents and depend on the situation, so I must do more research on the parents & children to know what is their NEEDS.
4) To come out a suitable execution I must first do more research on the mindset of the parents in Malaysia.
Another long post for an idea, so as always the third idea will be in the next post. See ya~
Thoughts of the day:
This idea is a huge topic which a lot of people in age or other types of group can be my targeted audience. Before the meeting, I was focusing too much on how to help motivate people to excites how to make something that really will make people want to lose weight. But now I understand there can be more path to move on and now I finally target down my audients and ready to do more research on the user behaviour. User behaviour can help me to bring the best solution to the audience. The idea is also related to myself as my appearance is different from the others, me as a victim. It also ties back to my family, because some of my younger relatives overweigh while they were children.
